I respect life. I respect rules. I feel secure when there is process and order. I respect gravity and feel gratitude for the ability it has to keep me upright and grounded. Clipping myself to a big parachute and trusting it will keep me from plummeting me into the ocean is a matter of trusting the experience of the man in charge and the rope as it’s connected to the boat.
“Bend your knees and hold up high!” Within seconds my friend and I were hundreds of feet up in the air surrounded by miles of endless ocean and coastline. It was quiet as the air passed through our hair and our feet dangled below us. Two clips, a long rope and a chute.
You can’t help but praise Jesus as you reach for Heaven soaring high above the seas. What came to my mind, was how the simple activity of parasailing related much to our walk with Christ and need for Jesus to be actively present in our lives. Without the will to move forward you will never have the wind to soar high. Without the chute you won’t leave the ground. Without the rope, the chute would be out of control. Without the clips you’ll fall.
There’s a song that came to mind as I was reflecting about my parasailing adventure. All Sons & Daughter's sing...
Lord I find You in the seeking
Lord I find You in the doubt
And to know You is to love You
And to know so little else
I need You
Oh how I need You
Lord I find You in the morning
Lord I seek You everyday
Let my life be for Your glory
Woven in Your threads of grace
I need You
Oh how I need You
Light, glorious light
I will go where You shine
Break the dawn, crack the skies
Make the way bright before me
In Your light I will find
All I need, all I need is You
Oh how I need You.
How often do you feel like life is an out of control parachute with tangled, frayed lines? How often do you feel you walk into a new season with just one clip secure? Maybe everything is properly prepared for flight, but the fear of what may happen paralyzes you from ever clipping in to what could potentially be the ride of your life; the experience that leads to life changing opportunities. In a moment of chaos, do you believe all you really need is just Jesus?
As life-giving oxygen is to our bodies, so is Jesus to our soul. He is our lifeline when the rope were trying to untangle is too big of a mess to fix ourselves. I need Jesus to be so extremely present in my life just like the parachute needs the speed of the wind to fly high. Life becomes a one element lifestyle without Christ living, breathing and speaking into our lives. You will never see the ariel view; you will never know the thrill of adrenaline from overcoming fear or know what it’s like to be hands free trusting God to carry you along when life becomes too bumpy.
All we need is Jesus. It’s time to fly. Will you accept Him? Will you trust Him in your messy marriage? Will you clip in and believe all you need is Jesus when the leader of your family may be lost in a web of sin? Ask yourself, what is it that is preventing you from experiencing what God wants to show you?
My prayer for you today is that God will make the way bright for your marriage wherever you and your spouse find yourselves. I pray that the skies will crack before you with the clarity and wisdom needed for your journey. God is wanting you to trust Him enough to get you off the ground; praying you have the strength to fly.
