There is nothing sweeter than recognizing your need for Christ. This short testimony from an experienced wife realized the need for Jesus to heal her husband and also saw her own need as well.
Being honest with yourself can many times be the first step towards rewarding change in your marriage.
"With God’s help we want to make new choices and overcome the strongholds of past sins from our families and now with us. "
"I've been married for 24 years and I've known that my husband has struggled with porn use over the years. Many times I have forgiven him and we have pushed on staying committed to God, each other, and our 3 children. Praying that God would help him face this addiction and set him free.
There were times of success and other times complete failure. He was trying to do it on his own most of the time. I think this is one area we failed. He would become tempted again, fall back into viewing porn, and hide his behavior until God would show me that he was dealing with it again. The last 2 years he has had the most intense struggles with porn and alcohol. But at the same time he has still been working on his relationship with God and our family.
We both knew we needed more help with dealing with this. Through much prayer God pointed us to a counselor where he has been seeking more help. We’ve learned from a few of his counseling sessions that he is afraid to let people get close to him. He doesn’t want them to know he has weaknesses and that these feelings are connected to childhood wounds. It wasn't until this year that God has shown me the destruction this sin has caused in our marriage over the years.
My husband and I did not have a good upbringing, and we have talked many times over the years that we want to break the strongholds of sin given to us through our families. With God’s help we want to make new choices and overcome the strongholds of past sins from our families (and now with us). I can see where my husband has been wounded which has drawn him towards this kind of behavior. Although it has not made it any easier to face the detrayal over and over again.
This year God has given me the strength to see that we can no longer go on with these struggles. He wants to deliver my husband from the bondage of pornography and childhood wounds. I have had to be the one to step up and set stronger boundaries which have forced us to get more help with my husband addictions. This is not happening quickly and I think we have a few years of battles ahead of us. " - E.

It amazes me how God has already used this connection to encourage others in similar situations through my story. You never know when or how God will plant you in a new arena to be used by Him. I may not have all the business know-abouts to speak of, but I certainly support those who do and I'm excited to join this new online family!
